Mark Jones is delighted to welcome Carl Stewart to his squad ahead of this weekend’s double header against Weston-super-Mare and Wealdstone.
Carl joins the club on a permanent deal following his release from Watford in June 2018, reuniting with Jonah having previously been coached by the Hoops boss while with the Hornets.
The 21-year-old joined the Hornets in 2006 and has also had a period in Italy with Udinese in 2015 before returning to Watford the same year. He made one competitive appearance for the Premier League side in the FA Cup Third Round, coming on as a substitute in their 2-0 win over Burton Albion in January 2017.
Carl will be available for Saturday’s match and will strengthen the midfield following injuries picked up in last weekend’s match with St Albans City.
Mark Jones is delighted to be able to get his man ahead of the weekend:
"We're very pleased to get him, he's a very good player. I know him well from my time coaching at Watford. He's very technically good, he can pass the ball and is nice and bright. He's been a pro at Watford for a very long time, they gave him a contract when he was very young.
He wasn't able to quite break through, which is always a challenge for young players at Premier League clubs but I've got good faith in him. I think he'll need a little bit of guidance, the right type of advice and then I think he could be a very good player.
