City Conquer Clarets

1 year ago By Oxford City FC

Chelmsford City 1-2 Oxford City; Oxford City Nomads 8-3 Woodcote/Stoke Row

Wins for both sides marked a perfect weekend, as Oxford City finally picked up their first league win since August away at previously second placed Chelmsford City, while The Nomads progressed in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup thanks to a huge 8-3 win against Woodcote/Stoke Row.

Goals from Dave Pearce and Godfrey Poku helped Oxford City to their first three points since the win over Hungerford Town, Pearce finishing off a brilliant move from The Hoops, tucking away a superb ball in from Matt Paterson into the bottom corner. Poku doubled the lead as he finished off a devastating break into the roof of the net.

The hosts did grab a consolation goal back through Max Porter who was able to head home from a long throw, however The Hoops defense was able to hold out to earn a very important three points.

Oxford City Nomads emphatically booked their place in the Oxfordshire Senior Cup Third Round following a goal-fest at Marsh Lane, overcoming Woodcote/Stoke Row 8-3. Goals from Sami Khawaja, Henry Landers, Jordi Mulvany and a Kyreece Martei brace, along with two own goals saw The Nomads through to where they will face Banbury United in next round.
