Oxford City's scheduled Oxfordshire senior cup quarter final tie with North Leigh will not be going ahead as planned with North Leigh withdrawing from the competition due to player availability giving City a bye into the Semi Finals of the competiton.
The following statement has been released by the West Oxfordshire side
North Leigh have taken the decision to withdraw from the Oxfordshire Senior Cup this season and therefore Oxford City receive a bye into the semi final of the competition.
The decision revolves around player availability and the fact that a number of players have played in earlier rounds of the Senior Cup for our reserve team and are therefore disqualified for playing for the 1st team in the same competition. Injuries and the early recall of loan players have made the situation even worse.
In addition, with the heavy rains over the weekend it is very doubtful if the cup tie, scheduled to be played tomorrow evening, could have gone ahead in any case.
North Leigh very much regret this situation particularly as we are the current holders of the Senior Cup, a competition we have won on three separate occasions in the recent past and which we regard as a very important part of our season. (North Leigh FC Statement)
City will find out their semi final opponents once the quarter finals have been completed, one side already through are Kidlington who saw off Thame United 3-1 last week.
Oxford United face a trip to Hellenic Division 1 high flyers Ardley United whilst Banbury United have a local derby at Easington Sports.
