A club announcement regarding Oxford City Ladies Manager Wayne Holden

It is with regret to have to announce that Wayne Holden has decided to step down from his position of Oxford City Ladies First Team Manager. Everyone at Oxford City Football Club would like to thank Wayne for his efforts, time and achievements at the club.

Wayne’s time at the club long precedes his time as Ladies First Team Manager as he initially joined as a 16 year old playing for the Youth Team. He subsequently moved on to playing for the First Team before playing and managing the over-35 Veterans side at which point he became involved in the Ladies setup.

Wayne explained his decision to step down before fondly looking back at his time at the club:

“It is with huge regret that I need to hand in my resignation from Oxford City Ladies. This was one of the hardest decisions I have had to make. There are a couple of reasons why I had to make this decision, but work commitments played a big part, and I felt that I could not give 100% commitment to this role.

This club has been a massive part of my life since the time I joined the club at 16 years old playing for the youth team. I played for the senior team right through to playing and managing the over 35's veterans team. Then got involved with running my daughter’s team 8 seasons ago, and have been involved in the Ladies set up until now.

I would like to thank the club for their support over these years. I have met and been involved with some great people. I would also like to thank Justin Merritt & Brian Cox for giving me this opportunity of managing the Ladies 1st team.”

Oxford City’s Director of Football, Justin Merritt thanked Wayne for his contributions at the club:

"I would like to thank Wayne for his commitment and application over many years. He has applied high standards, professionalism and created a positive environment within his roles at the football club.”

Waheed Ramzan, assisted by coach Brian Flannery will undertake a caretaker manager role. This will allow for continuity of the teams and promote a player development pathway throughout the Ladies section.

The club is seeking applications for the role of Ladies First Team Manager, details of which can be found here: Click Here
