We can confirm this evening that assistant manager Joe Deeney has departed the club in order to take up the managerial position at fellow National League South side Hemel Hempstead Town.
While the club are obviously saddened to lose someone of Joe’s calibre from the coaching staff, everyone is also delighted for him to have been given this fantastic opportunity with Hemel Hempstead.
Joe has been Mark Jones’ right hand man ever since he took over the manager’s position in December 2016. He has been alongside the City boss for two memorable FA Cup campaigns, including a historic victory against Colchester United before holding Notts County until the 94th minute in the Second Round Proper last year.
A huge thank you for all you have done in your time at City Joe, and we wish you all the best in your new adventure at Hemel Hempstead Town.
Mark Jones, while disappointed at losing his assistant, is delighted for Joe:
“While we are disappointed at Joe leaving, I am delighted for Joe to get this chance. We owe him a lot for what he has done at the club over the past couple of years, and he certainly leaves with our best wishes”
