Preparations are underway for the 2019/20 National League North season, and we can confirm that Ryan Case, Bobson Bawling, Tom Carter, and John O’Donoghue have departed the club, following the end of the 2018/19 campaign.
Carter and O’Donoghue both came up through the Oxford City Academy into the First Team fold this season. Both made a handful of appearances in the side during the season, Carter making five starts, which included wins against Maidenhead United and Weston-super-Mare, O’Donoghue also making a substitute appearance in the latter, before he then went onto make two starts in wins over Oxford United in the Senior Cup, and later Slough Town in the League. With both players still early in their careers, Mark Jones felt he couldn’t quite offer them the regular football they would need in order to develop their careers further.
Case joined the club in January, and as a versatile defender was seen making appearances all across the back-line. Despite a rather unfortunate start to his City career – seeing a very contentious red card on debut – he went onto make a further 10 starts, where he earned a reputation of being a solid defender.
Bawling joined from Torquay United in October, initially on loan, before it was made permanent a month later. He showed what he was capable of almost immediately as he netted on his debut against Dartford in the FA Cup, before he then went onto make a further 33 appearances in all competitions.
We thank all four players for their hard work and commitment over the past season and wish them all the best for the future!
We can also confirm that all other players who were contracted at the end of the season have been offered deals for the coming season, while Craig King and Reece Fleet are already under contract for the new season. Further news on these discussions will be released in the coming weeks.
