Oxford City Nomads ran out comfortable 3-1 winners against a heavily defence-minded Burnham outfit on a chilly evening at Marsh Lane.
Kickoff was delayed by 15 minutes as the visitors waited for some players to arrive, eventually kicking off with 10 men.
The Nomads made a bright start with Sami Khawaja getting in behind in the 6th minute, taking his shot early but firing his effort straight at the goalkeeper.
Siyanda Gila was the next to see a sight of the Burnham goal, producing a sublime touch on the edge of the area before unleashing a curling effort which cannoned back off the base of the far post.
The breakthrough finally came in the 23rd minute, Liam Talboys lining up a free kick from the left side of the D which comfortably beat Sam Bunting at his near post.
The visitors threatened a comeback minutes later with Brandon Ganville looking to have burst clear of The Nomads' defence, only for Gila to produce a beautifully timed challenge to clear the danger. Mikel Platt also rose well to head goalwards from a right wing free kick, failing to find the target.
Henry Landers could have doubled the lead just before half time, somehow blasting wide from 6 yards following some excellent buildup play.
The second half began with Burham finally at full strength having started the game with 10 men. The extra player did little to help, however, as Sami Khawaja slid onto a Connor Mattimore cross to put The Nomads 2-0 up.
The visitors then found a lifeline as Juan Pineda found the far top corner with an unorthodox effort from the left wing.
The game became a scrappier affair as Burnham looked to soak up pressure and hit The Nomads on the break, but it was a more direct approach which paid dividends for the Hosts as Udoka Godwin-Malife slipped past the defence to slot under the 'keeper.
Goalscorer Khawaja saw two more efforts saved later in the game, the best of these seeing his low effort from 12 yards tipped around the post.
