City Under 18's lose to West Ham

Oxford City Ladies Under 18's lost 5-2 in a prestigious pre season friendly away to West Ham United.

After 2 very good pre season wins already under their belt, the girls came back down to earth with a defeat away to a very good and strong West Ham team. West Ham took the lead after only 10 minutes, and doubled their advantage on 48 minutes. 2 minutes later and it was 3-0. City then got themselves right back in the game on 70 minutes with an absolute screamer from 25 yards from Lara Althorp. 2 minutes later and it was 3-2, as great wing play from Molly Lygo down the right hand side, and a great ball in set up Kiera Isaac to clinically finish. Unfortunately, just as City thought they were back in the game, West Ham went straight up the other end to go 4-2 up. City tried their hardest to reduce the arrears, but were finding the stubborn West Ham defenders very hard to break down, and as City players were throwing players forward, West Ham broke away to score a 5th with the last kick of the game.
City were not at their best today, but came up against a very strong side in West Ham, and the players will probably take a lot from this game, which will put is in good stead for next weeks opening tough league fixture away to Swindon Town.

FINAL SCORE: West Ham United 5 Oxford City 2
