Report - Oxford City 5-0 Thame United
Another pre-season win for the Hoops
Oxford City recorded a third straight pre-season win as they ran out 5-0 winners over Thame United at Marsh Lane, following the switch from the ASM Stadium.
Matt Paterson and Eze Ibrahim scored first half goals before a second half brace from Reece Fleet with Kabongo Tshimanga rounding off the scoring moments before the final whistle.
City got off to a flier and were awarded a penalty in the fifth minute. Paterson weaved his way through the defence before he was then felled by a challenge. He stepped up to take the spot kick himself, sending former Hoops ‘keeper Craig Hill the wrong way in the process.
Eze Ibrahim then opened his City account just after the half hour mark. A great team move saw a cross find its way to the young striker who turned well before smashing the ball into the roof of the net.
It was the 57th minute before the score was extended further. Paterson was unlucky to not be the scorer as his 30-yard free-kick had Hill well beaten, however he saw his effort crash off both posts before falling to Fleet who had the simplest of tap-ins for his first of the match.
His second came 15 minutes from time as he was found waiting with a cross on the edge of the six-yard box, stroking home with finesse into the far corner.
Tshimanga rounded off the scoring with what was the last meaningful kick of the match. Fleet turned provider this time round as his lofted cross found the City striker who was able to wriggle free of his defender before lifting the ball in to the roof of the net.
