Report - Oxford City 3-3 Weston-super-Mare
City stall against Seagulls
A wet and windy night at the City Stadium saw Oxford City and Weston Super Mare play out an entertaining 3-3 draw.
Both sides ended the game with ten men, Weston's Aden Baldwin seeing red for a professional foul in the first half before Freddie Grant received a second yellow card with 15 minutes to play.
The Hoops went behind within two minutes as Dayle Grubb pounced on a loose ball in the box to find the far bottom corner.
A prolonged spell of pressure eventually saw City level. Neat interplay on the edge of the area gave Rob Sinclair a chance to cross, the clearance falling for Godfrey Poku to calmly curl a volley past Luke Purnell.
Weston continued to come under pressure and were reduced to ten men when Baldwin held back Matt Paterson after the striker stole the ball on the edge of the area. Poku looked to make the most of the numerical advantage but couldn't beat a flying Purnell a second time.
The depleted Seagulls took a shock lead just before half time as Grubb's free kick wrong-footed Jack Stevens.
City came out from the break on the front foot and were rewarded within ten minutes, Reece Fleet smashing a bouncing ball past Purnell.
The Hoops' gameplan was, however, undone as an injury to substitute Lee Henderson and Grant's sending off forced Mark Jones to improvise at the back.
Despite the setback, The Hoops were able to take the lead for the first time thanks to a stunning 30-yard strike from Zac McEachran but were immediately pegged back as Irnti Rapai bundled the ball over the line from close range.
A brace of exceptional late saves from Stevens ensured City came away with a point.
