Oxford City LFC welcome Newbury to Court Place Farm this Sunday in the Southern Region League Cup.
Waheed Ramzan, City Ladies’ First Team Manager, is relishing returning to action this weekend: “After last week’s game being called off at the last minute I think the whole squad felt down about missing a chance to keep building momentum. We have, however, had really good, sharp training sessions as of late and should be excited to take this into Sunday’s game and onwards.”
Ramzan, whose team has taken maximum points in the league this season, is looking for his team to make a positive impact in the League cup: “This weekend will be very much about progressing in the cup but more so about the performance that accompanies it and I think the ladies are hungry to show what they can do. We have really good availability for Sunday and credit to the ladies for giving me selection headaches by being so committed to training and fixtures!”
City Ladies have struggled with injuries of late. Waheed told us “We have Nat Morris, Nicole Miles and Evie Brown all out injured with April England carrying a knock currently too. It is great to see Mollie Avery back in training and not too far from getting back on the pitch. DA has done tremendously well to get herself fit again and looks set to play an important part in this weekend’s game. Hard work in training tomorrow.. then bring on match day.”
Oxford City Ladies FC take on Newbury at Court Place Farm this Sunday, k.o. 2pm. Entry is FREE.
