Ox City Lions blow away Bath

National Futsal League Midlands Group: Oxford City Lions 8:2 Team Bath

The Oxford City Lions put on a very impressive show to delight a great crowd at the Park Sports Centre which saw them crush last seasons group winners Team Bath 8:2.
The Lions knew that they were up against a very solid team from Bath but they decided very early on that this was to be their day as they out skilled, out paced and out played Team Bath who are no push overs but really weren't allowed into the game.
The Oxford City Lions had three special guests from Oxford City Football Club to their first home match of the season of Colin Taylor (MD), Mike Ford (first team manager) and Craig Tornberg (General Manager) and they were treated to what was the Oxford City Lions best display of this year.
With Lucas Totti welcomed back into the team whose first half display proved to everyone watching why he is the best futsal player in the country with three goals and clearance off his own goal line and all this whilst nursing a 'man cold'!
Every Lions player contributed to what was a fantastically one way first half with the Lions coming in 4:0 to the good and the second half saw the Lions prepared to hold onto their lead with some fantastic defending and the Man of the Match display by our keeper Roni and with our captain Emilio leading by example Bath found in very difficult to get back into the game which ended with the Lions winning by a brilliant 8:2 victory over a team which is capable of beating anyone but yesterday were made to look quite ordinary.
The game of futsal is a weird one and we know for sure that Team Bath will go away, lick their wounds and come back stronger and more determined than ever to get one over the Lions in Bath but for now the Oxford City Lions looked like a team who are destined for the top of the Midlands Group come the end of the season!
Oxford City FC's General Manager Craig has a long history of futsal in his native America and I could only say that Colin, Mike and Craig were extremely impressed with the quality of the Lions and watch this space as there may be some Oxford City Lions on the grass football pitch at Court Place Farm pretty soon!!!
All confident for our away trip to current Midlands Group leaders Birmingham this Sunday!
