Academy Graduates Debut for First Team

Brayden Daniel and Josh McConnell break into first team.

Two of Oxford City's brightest young talents have begun making waves in the first team. Bank Holiday Monday's fixture against Chester saw Brayden Daniel make his first start on the right wing and fellow academy graduate, Josh McConnell was introduced for the first time this season.

Both youngsters impressed Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins during pre season. McConnell was involved in nearly every pre season game and was particularly efficient in the middle of the park. Daniel played a variety of positions including full back but his preferred position, out on the right wing is where he was utilised earlier in the week.

Oxford City have a particularly strong youth development record with plenty of other youngsters joining Step 3 and Step 4 sides in anticipation of a big breakthrough into the senior squad.

Latrell Humphrey-Ewers is another academy product who has excelled since progressing through the youth ranks. He made his first start of the season against Chester.

Jayden Carbon and Phil Croker are two more exceptional talents to have come through City's youth programme and both play in the Football League for Middlesborough and Crewe Alexandra respectively.

It has been fantastic to witness the progression of both Brayden and Josh who have grown into spectacular players and to be rewarded with first team debuts against a club like Chester is particularly pleasing for everyone at Oxford City.
