Midfielder extends his City stay.

Oxford City are delighted to announce that Midfielder Alfie Potter has signed a new deal to remain at the club ahead of the 2025/26 National League North season.

Since joining the club in 2020, Potter has made over 100 appearances for the Hoops and played a pivotal role in the squad that won promotion to the National League in 2023.

He also etched his name into Oxford City history after becoming the first player to score for the club in the fifth tier after his goal against Aldershot Town.

The 36-year-old needs no introduction to football fans in Oxford, after his last minute goal in the Conference Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium secured Oxford United’s promotion to the Football League in 2010.

Speaking after signing his new deal with City, Potter said: “I’m buzzing to sign up for another year.

“I’ve loved my time at the club and I’m grateful for the continued belief and support.

“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch and give everything to drive this club forward.”

Oxford City Men’s First Team Manager Ross Jenkins added: “It’s brilliant to get Alfie signed ahead of next season.

“He’s a player with great experience, knowledge and he’s versatile.

“He’ll also benefit the younger players in the group who will learn from him and the standards he sets in training.”

After signing for Peterborough United in 2007 from Waltham Forest, Potter first made a name for himself in non-league with loan spells with Grays Athletic, Havant & Waterlooville, AFC Wimbledon, Kettering Town and then the U's with whom he made his loan stay permanent after the 2010 promotion.

A multiple promotion winner in his career, Potter was also part of the Northampton Town team that won the League Two title in 2016 under Chris Wilder.

Stints at Mansfield Town and Billericay Town followed his spell with the Cobblers, before he joined the Hoops mid-way through the curtailed 2019/20 Covid season.

Now, as sprightly as ever, Potter will enter into his 19th season of his senior career at the MGroup Stadium.

Welcome back, Alfie!
