Ben Dudzinski and Josh Ashby in Team of the Season

May 18, 2022

Oxford City goalkeeper Ben Dudzinski and midfielder Josh Ashby have been named in the Vanarama National League South Team of the Season.

Dudzinski has been worth his weight in gold for the Hoops this season, racking up fourteen clean-sheets this season in all competitions. Earlier in the season, ‘Dudz’ looked unstoppable in between the sticks, as he kept an astonishing seven clean-sheets in eight games.

At one point the City number one went 450 minutes without conceding a goal in VNLS.

For anyone that follows National League football, Josh Ashby’s inclusion will come as no surprise to anyone.

One of the first names on the team sheet this season, Josh has had a stellar season at the Velocity Stadium scoring ten goals in the Hoops’ successful campaign. Ashby hasn’t been short of that creative spark either matching his goal tally with assists.

The vote was conducted by all 21 teams in VNLS and clubs were not permitted to vote for their own players.

Team of the year: Ben Dudzinski (Oxford City), Barry Fuller (Dorking Wanderers), Joe Ellul (Maidstone United), Tom Bonner (Dartford), Jerome Binnom-Williams (Maidstone United), Jack Jebb (Dartford), Josh Ashby (Oxford City), Matthew Briggs (Dorking Wanderers), Alfie Rutherford (Dorking Wanderers), Shaun Jeffers (St Albans City), Joan Luque (Maidstone United).
