Charlie Wiggett Signs For Oxford City
Ex-Chelsea man Charlie joins the Hoops.
Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of centre-half Charlie Wiggett ahead of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North season.
Charlie joins us after leaving League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers and boasts an impressive CV after turning out in the academy sides of Chelsea and Newcastle United.
The centre-half has been trialling with the club over the past few weeks, and supporters may recognise him from his recent appearances for the squad.
After signing with the club, Wiggett said: "I've found it really enjoyable. There's a really good group of lads here with a good mix.
"I'd describe myself as a ball-playing centre-half, I like to have the ball at my feet but I'm never going to shy away from a tackle or a header. I feel like I can really help the team.
"I'm just really excited to get going."
Men’s First Team Manager Ross Jenkins added: "Charlie has been with us a couple weeks now and I’m delighted to get him in the building.
"He brings great qualities to our back line and has gelled with the group very quickly. It’s nice to get him settled so we can get to work now."

The centre-half’s football journey started with Swindon Town before he joined Chelsea’s famed youth academy at 14.
After working his way through the ranks, he graduated to the Blues’ U23 side where he appeared alongside a number of notable names such as Levi Colwill & Armando Broja.
In the summer of 2021, he made the move to Tyneside to join Newcastle United.
He was a mainstay in the Magpies' U23 side and trained with the first team under Manager Eddie Howe on occasions.
His stay in the North East ended in February 2024, as he clocked up more miles to join League of Ireland side Sligo Rovers.
He left Sligo at the end of the Irish season and moved back to his home town of Newbury before linking up with Ross Jenkins' squad in pre-season.
Welcome to Oxford City, Charlie.
