Oxford City Women into final four in Chairman's Cup

Oxford United Women stormed into the semi-finals of the Chairman’s Cup with an excellent 3-1 win at Woodley on Sunday

The goals came from familiar sources with Yasmin Edwards scoring twice and Ellie White adding the third as the pair continue to battle for the golden boot.

Edwards’ opener came early in the game when she turned a defender and finished powerfully from the edge of the area for a well-taken goal to make it 1-0 but the home side rallied and pounced on a 37th minute error to make it 1-1 at the break.

City had created plenty of chances and continued to do so after the break after Edwards gave them the perfect start with a goal after just 20 seconds, chipping the keeper after an incisive pass from Anna O’Leary to make it 2-1 and score her 14th of the season

Again, City pressed and dominated the second half but it wasn’t until White slotted home here 17th of the campaign after good work from midfielder Sophie Lester that the game was safe.

City now go on to face Sholing away in the semi-final on 12th April. The home game against Beaconsfield will now be rescheduled and played on 24th May.
