Cypher Accountancy Donate Stand Sponsorship For Charity Match
Stand to commemorate Lloyd Calcutt on Sunday 31st May.
We would like to thank our friends at Cypher for another outstanding act of generosity.
Cypher have been fantastic club partners and sponsor the Cypher Stand- the popular Shed End at the MGroup Stadium.
However, on May 31st that stand will be temporarily renamed in memory of a true Oxford football fan.
Lloyd Calcutt was only 38 when he died from Covid-19 and since then his close friends and family in Witney have continued to honour his name.
The two organisers of this event Mike Dove and Tom Higgs, co-owners of The Three Horseshoes asked if they could decorate the Cypher Stand with banners and tributes to Lloyd when the stadium hosts the Three Horseshoes and Debra Cup, a four team celebration of football with Graham Souness and Matt Le Tissier bringing star pack sides to compete against an Oxford United Legends side, an Oxfordshire Superstars XI and a Three Horseshoes Legends squad.
Mike and Tommy said “Lloyd was everything that was good about Oxfordshire football. His passion and commitment to all football right from his beloved Oxford Utd, right through to grassroots football was unrivalled.
"For us, we just thought it was a cool way to honour the memory of a very good person and a friend. We are super grateful to Cypher and Oxford City for agreeing to this.”
Matt Williams of Cypher hearing of the plans for the stand kindly waived the Cypher name for the day, meaning that for one day only it will become the Lloyd Calcutt Stand.
Matt told us:
“It’s the least we can do. It should be a great afternoon of football for a great cause and we hope that everyone in the Lloyd Calcutt stand enjoys their day.”
Chris Williams, Head of Partnerships at Oxford City said
“It’s typical of Matt and Cypher that they want to support the local community in this way. There are some amazing names coming along to play in the match, and having known Lloyd and his passion for football I have no doubt he would have loved this idea.”
Among the names already confirmed for the day are Graham Souness, Matt Le Tissier, Neil ‘Razor Ruddock, Carlton Palmer, Matt Elliott, Dean Windass, Matt Elliott, Dean Saunders, Jimmy Bullard, an Oxford Utd Legends team, former Oxford United boss Denis Smith and former Soccer AM stars Tubes and Fenners, plus many more.
There will be the chance to try hit PC game Nutmeg and activities for all the family to enjoy.
