Darnell Johnson Signs For Oxford City
Darnell is the latest Hoops recruit.
Oxford City Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of central defender Darnell Johnson ahead of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North season.
Darnell joins the club with a wealth of experience after turning out for the likes of Hibernian, Wigan Athletic and Fleetwood Town in his career.
The 26-year-old is a 6’2” defender, capable of playing at either centre-back or right-back, and adds depth to Ross Jenkins’ defensive ranks.
Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins said: “I’m very happy to get Darnell sorted.
“He’s come in and added a physicality to us and leadership qualities.
“DJ has shown a great attitude and desire to do well which is exactly what we want. I’m looking forward to working with him this season.”
Johnson added: “I'm very happy to be here and I'm ready to get started.
"It's a very professional club with some great lads and the gaffer is really good as well, I've really enjoyed it.
"I had a few offers, but after speaking to the gaffer and hearing about his vision, what he wants to achieve this year and what I can bring to the team, it was a no brainer."

The godson of former England international Emile Heskey, Johnson came through the ranks at Leicester City, joining the club as a 10-year-old before leaving in 2021.
He also represented England at youth level, from U16s through to U20.
During his time at the Foxes, he enjoyed loan spells at Hibernian, Wigan Athletic and AFC Wimbledon.
Johnson then joined Fleetwood Town after his 12-year stint with Leicester - and he was released by the Cods following the conclusion of the season.
A move to League Two side Forest Green Rovers followed in 2023/24 before he spent the majority of last season on the sidelines due to injury.
Now, he links up with the Hoops after an impressive trial period during pre-season.
Welcome to Oxford City, Darnell.
