Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of former Paris-Saint Germain & Georgetown University midfielder Jean-Baptiste Fischer.

The midfielder has impressed whilst on trial with City over pre-season and bolsters our midfield ahead of the 2022/23 season.

Fischer started his football journey with French giants PSG, joining the Parisiens at the age of eight and spending many years at the club as their junior team’s captain before leaving eleven years later to undertake an International Business degree at Georgetown University in the US.

There he helped the football team win the National Championship in 2019 and three other league titles.

He moved to the UK to study at Swansea University in September 2020 and also trained with Swansea City under 23’s before he joined Wycombe Wanderers after impressing on trial with the Chairboys.

Last season, he headed out on loan to Braintree Town and played a key role in helping the Iron survive in the Vanarama National League South.

After signing with the Hoops, Fischer said: “I’m very happy to be at this club.

“I’ve heard a lot of good things about Oxford and I remember playing here last year at Braintree and I’m pumped and excited to get the season started.”

Manager Ross Jenkins said: “Jean-Baptiste has good pedigree, you have to be a good player to progress through PSG’s academy as captain.

“He’s got some great attributes, that’s the reason Wycombe signed him and he’s one that when he came available we wanted to look at.

“He’s done well in pre-season and clicked with our midfield and he’ll add competition to our midfield and other areas.”
