George Burroughs Signs For Oxford City
Versatile defender joins the team.
Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of defender George Burroughs after a successful trial period with the club.
George joins the Hoops after graduating from Coventry City's academy. After leaving the Sky Blues he's also had spells in non-league with Altrincham, Telford and Redditch.
After signing for the club, Ross Jenkins said: "We're delighted to have George on board.
"He's been with us for the past three weeks now and he certainly makes us stronger as a group. I'm looking forward to working with him this season."
George added: "I'm very happy to sign.
"It's difficult as a trialist as you're trying to impress the manager, but now I can look forward to the season now.
"I can play at centre-back and right back, and I'll try and get forward if i can. I'll always try and get my head on things and put my neck on the line for the team."
Burroughs joined Coventry City as a youngster and progressed through the youth system at the Sky Blues, before reaching the U23s squad.
He spent 15 years at the club and played an integral role in the Sky Blues U23’s success, even scoring in Coventry's decisive third goal in their 3-2 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate in the Professional Development League 2 final.
Spells with Altrincham in the National League followed before further spells with Telford & Redditch. Now, he'll step back up to step two football with the Hoops and adds depth in the ranks for Ross Jenkins' side.
