Ashby, who played a starring role in the centre of the midfield this season, is the second City player to commit their future to the Hoops, ahead of our first campaign in the fifth tier of English football.

Furthermore, it was a landmark year for Ashby individually. The central midfielder surpassed the 200 mark for appearances at the club during the season.

Ashby, also secured a spot in the official National League South Team of the season in 2021/22 whilst with the Hoops, and a further 25 goal involvements this season proved his worth once again.

Speaking after signing his new deal with the club, Ashby said: “I can’t wait to get going ahead of next season.

“I’m looking forward to testing myself in a higher division and as a team we look forward to that.

"It was a great year but we want to really push on and test ourselves at a higher level."
