Latrell Humphrey-Ewers Returns To Oxford City

June 28, 2025

Midfielder is back in OX3.

Oxford City FC are delighted to announce that Midfielder Latrell Humphrey-Ewers has signed for the club ahead of the 2025/26 Enterprise National League North season.

Humphrey-Ewers is no stranger to Hoops fans. The 22-year-old came through the academy ranks here at the MGroup Stadium and played a big part in promotion to (and in) the National League.

Now, after leaving Bath City this summer, he re-joins the Hoops ahead of the 2025/26 season as Ross Jenkins’ second signing of the summer.

After signing a deal to re-join his local club, Humphrey-Ewers said: “I’m really happy to be back.”

“I feel like it was the right time to come back, and I’m really happy to be here.

“I learnt a lot about my game whilst on loan with Taunton Town last season, and I’m ready to show that here under the gaffer and with the new players.”

Men’s First Team Manager Ross Jenkins added: “I’m delighted to see Latrell back in an Oxford City shirt.

“He’s someone we as a club have worked with for a number of seasons, and he’s a player who’s worked his way through the Velocity programme and into first team football.

“I’m looking forward to seeing him step up again.”

As a youth player, Humphrey-Ewers was part of Reading’s prestigious academy and he rose through the ranks in the Royals’ youth system.

The midfielder also represented England U16s alongside notable names like Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott and Burnley’s James Trafford.

After his release from Reading, he linked up with the Velocity Football programme (Oxford City’s academy) and started to impress in the National League U19s Division.

He broke into the Hoops’ first-team during the 2022/23 season, making his debut for Oxford City on the opening day of the season as a substitute before becoming more prominent as the season progressed.

After a brief spell with (then Step Three side) North Leigh, he played a major role in City’s promotion campaign, scoring his first goal for the club away at Dover Athletic before setting up the fourth goal in the Hoops’ Promotion Final win over St Albans City.

In the summer of 2023, he was rewarded with his first professional contract and the Young Player of the Season award, before he went on to win the award for a second consecutive season in 2024 after another impressive year in the fifth tier.

Despite being offered a new deal to stay at the MGroup Stadium, Humphrey-Ewers opted to join Enterprise National League South side Bath City last summer, and despite impressing in the early stages of the season, managerial upheaval at Twerton Park led to the midfielder seeking game-time on loan at Taunton Town for the latter part of the campaign.

Now though, Bath’s loss is Oxford City’s gain, as the Hoops won the race to acquire the highly rated youngster’s signature once again.
