City return to MGroup Stadium for first time in pre season.

The Hoops are back at The MGroup Stadium for the first time this pre season as they face a Charlton Athletic XI on Saturday 19th, 3pm Kick Off.
Oxford City are coming off the back of a 3-2 victory over Banbury United after two Josh Ashby free-kicks and a DJ Campton-Sturridge penalty found the back of the net. The Hoops played some intricate and technical football, despite the hindrances from the surface.
Saturday will pose a different test for City who have two and a half weeks left of pre season and four games to be ready for the first trip of the season: AFC Fylde.
Josh Parker, who played for Charlton and won at Wembley with as they earned promotion back to the Championship, said: "It doesn't matter who I'm playing against, I want to win.
"But it's about staying fit and healthy and getting minutes in the legs and building it up to the beginning of the season."

ONE TO WATCH - Matty Godden
Godden's most notable period of his career came at Coventry, where he bagged 50 goals in 110 starts and aided Coventry back to the Championship and earning spot in the PFA League One Team of the Year.
In July 2024, Godden signed a two-year deal with Charlton. Last season he made 41 appearances and scored 18 league goals as The Addicks earned a spot in the Championship after a playoff final win over Leyton Orient.
Godden has proven his ability at all levels, having begun at Scunthorpe before moving his way up the pyramid. Stints at Ebbsfleet, Stevenage, Peterborough United and Coventry have all ended in success.
As a presence up front, Godden is a man to watch out for.

THE MANAGER - Nathan Jones
Nathan Jones transitioned into coaching following a 21-year playing career, most notably with Brighton & Hove Albion and Yeovil Town.
Began his coaching journey in June 2012 as Charlton Athletic’s U21 lead coach, before joining Brighton & Hove Albion in 2013 as assistant head coach and later first-team coach.
After two spells with Luton Town, split by less than a year with Stoke City, Jones managed Southampton in the English top flight before moving to Charlton Athletic.
Jones inherited a side deep in a winless run and has managed to revitalise the Addicks taking them back into the Championship.
