Match Preview | Oxford City v Macclesfield
City are back at The MGroup Stadium!

The National League North is back at The MGroup Stadium for the first time this season as Oxford City host newly-promoted Macclesfield on Saturday, 3pm kick off.
We've already completed 384 out of the total 6668 miles for this season, but this weekend we don't have to worry about that. The Hoops play their first competitive fixture at The MGroup Stadium as 'top of the table' Macclesfield come to town.
City are coming off the back of what ended up being a disappointing opening weekend in Fylde, despite the really positive performance as The Hoops fell to a 3-2 defeat. A point each would have been palatable for the travelling fans but really, City deserved all three points.
Macclesfield have made their mark early in the National League North after defeating Worksop Town 3-1, putting them atop the leaderboard after one game.
Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins said: "They have some momentum from last season and based on our last performance we should have some as well.
"Our first game at home will be a positive one. We have to make sure we earn the right and we are ready to perform."

ONE TO WATCH - Danny Elliott
Elliott is entering his second season with The Silkmen. His first was extremely fruitful, he managed to net 31 league goals and 42 in all competitions in 50 games. As a result, he claimed the Golden Boot, Macclesfield Player of the Season and Premier Division Player of the Year.
The 30-year-old began his career in the youth systems at Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa before travelling to the USA for college. His first club on his return to England was Port Vale. He spent two years at Chester with a profitable loan spell at Alfreton where he scored 5 in 5.
His stint with Hartlepool saw him help secure promotion back to The Football League even scoring in the shootout. He then won Boston United's player of the season before moving up to Boreham Wood in the National League.

THE MANAGER - John Rooney
Rooney came through the youth systems at Everton and Macclesfield, making his professional debut for The Silkmen in 2008. He enjoyed a stint abroad with New York Red Bulls and Orlando City, winning the USL Pro Titles in 2012.
He featured heavily in the club’s success, winning over 80 appearances and around 30 goals, many of which came during the title-winning 2023/24 campaign. Rooney was named in the Northern Premier League Team of the Season 2023–24 and awarded Macclesfield FC Player of the Year for that season.
After Robbie Savage's departure after last season, Rooney was promoted straight from player to first-team manager on 1 July 2025.
His brother is also Wayne Rooney.
