On a bobbly pitch in the sun Oxford City Women managed a 2-2 draw against A.F.C. Portchester away from home in the Southern Region Women's Football League.
The game was most notable for The Hoops’ good defensive display under a lot of pressure from the home side early on.
City's opening goal came after a corner dropped in the box and was smashed towards the goal by Georgina Tayman.
The first goal put City on the front foot as captain, Billie Bough-French and Georgina Tayman both had shots saved.
The home side levelled after a good few passes on the left hand side. The Hoops were exposed to a low shot just inside the box. Mia Adaway brought the hosts level.
Half Time: AFC Portchester 1-1 Oxford City
Portchester’s second goal came just before the sixty-minute mark as Oxford’s good defensive display was breached after a defensive mix-up and Millie Bradbury was able to round the keeper and finish into the bottom corner.
With 10 minutes remaining, Emily Harris was played in behind the defence and brought down inside the box. The referee wasted no time in pointing to the spot.
Ellie White’s calmly slotted her penalty into the bottom corner.
Hannah Gerrow made some fine stops late on to keep the game equal, as City tried to find the winner but the 2-2 draw felt like a fair result when all was said and done.
City continue their unbeaten run and go into the game against Tower Hill in full confidence.
