City Women kick off pre-season.

Enfield Town  6

Oxford City 4

Harris 3', 45'
Edwards 6', 52'

Oxford City Women kicked off their pre-season this afternoon with an away game to Enfield Town as Manager Aliyah Anthony fielded a fairly new side.

A brace each for Emily Harris and Yasmin Edwards wasn't enough for The Hoops as Enfield Town left the victors.

It was a good test for the Women against a good and energetic Enfield Town side.

Emily Harris opened the scoring after just three minutes as she ventured into the box completely unmarked and rifled her shot across the keeper into the side netting.

Then, it was Yasmin Edwards turn to get on the scoresheet. Last season's Player's Player of the Season winner picking up where. she left off as she glided into the box to finish off a good move for The Hoops.

It was a bright start for City who looked in fine form. Before the game, assistant manager, Benson Miyoba told us: "It's exciting, it's my first game with the group so I'm excited to see how we put our training sessions into competitive football.

"We have plenty of new faces so it'll be interesting to see how they fit into our plan as well."

It wasn't long before the home side got themselves on the scoresheet either and before long it was level at 2-2.

Hermione Prescott-Luke gave City fans a scare as she went down holding her knee, but thankfully she will be ok as she walked off the field.

After the half hour mark, Enfield took the lead.

On the stroke of half time, in what was an enthralling end-to-end game, Emily Harris found herself in acres of space and beat the keeper at the near post to bring the game back to level terms.

It wasn't for long though, as Enfield almost immediately took the lead.

Half time: Enfield Town 4-3 Oxford City

The second half began with more of the same as Edwards turned in the City corner at the near post to level it up at 4 each.

The hosts eventually regained the lead and City squandered a couple of good chances in the closing stages as Edwards blasted a. chance over the bar from the edge of the area.

City threw everything at them, and their pre-season fitness work was paying dividends but the home side hit them on the counter and sealed the fixture in the dying breaths.
