Oxford City progressed in the Women’s FA Cup with a dominant 12-0 victory at home against Penn and Tylers Green. 

On a busy afternoon, Danielle Puddefort made her first start for the club, marking her return from injury. There were also first goals of the season for Emily Harris, Janaye Beaufort, Kiyana Fryer, Sophie Lester, and Grace Craven, as well as a first-half hat-trick from Yasmin Edwards, a second-half hat-trick for Kate Parsons, and finally Meira Ashby netting her second of the season.

 City got off to a lightning start, with Edwards opening the scoring just two minutes into the clash. It was Harris who drove down the left wing and found Edwards in the centre of the box, with the forward poking over the line from the goalmouth to take a very early advantage.

 City continued to dominate, and they had their second as the game hit ten minutes, this time as Fryer netted her first of the season with an excellent strike which saw her pick out the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.

 Their third came in the 15th minute, courtesy of a pinpoint header from Edwards following Harris’ corner delivery, and it was Harris with City’s next, as she fired in from a corner in the just the 21st minute

.Beaufort was next to net, with her first of the season being created by excellent footwork as she skipped around the visiting defence, created space for her shot, and fired away to make five within 30 minutes.

 In one more before the half, Edwards turned in another corner from close range on 32 minutes as she secured an impressive first-half hat-trick. For the remainder of the half, most of the play was rooted in the Penn half, with City dominating possession, but there were no more additions to the scoreline before the break, with City going in at the break with a healthy 6-0 lead.

 City couldn’t find the net quite as quickly in the second half as they did in the first, but they did make it seven on the 55th-minute mark. It was a corner delivery that a few had a stab at as the visitors tried to clear, but after a few efforts nothing could stop the power of Lester’s strike in the first of a quick-fire double for the Hoops.

 Indeed, Parsons netted just two minutes later, and just five minutes into her substitute appearance. She did well to charge down the left hand side and squeeze an effort in from a tight angle in City’s 8th.

 The visitors did have their moments going forward, with an effort of quality coming in in the 76th minute, as a long-range effort hit the woodwork of Aimee Flood’s goal, with the follow-up needing to be met by a strong diving save from our number one. Moments later, Flood had to be alert yet again, as she was quick off of her line to deny Jess Toulson a one-on-one effort.

 It was a more spirited performance from the visitors in the second half, as they created more chances going forward and equalled much of the advances from the Hoops at the other end throughout most of the second 45, but if the game had not already been won by the Hoops, it certainly would have been by the late flurry of goals.

 That flurry started as Parsons bagged her second of the afternoon in the 83rd minute, with an excellent first touch to control the ball followed by a calm pass into the far corner. Just minutes later, Craven took her side into double figures, as she fired home from close range in the 86th-minute.

 Parsons completed her hat-trick just a minute later as she found herself one-on-one with Lindsey Hagger in Penn’s net, and slotted past the keeper to secure her third. With one more in the tie, it was Ashby who made it 12 on 89 minutes, with her second of the season signing of the scoring on a busy afternoon in OX3.

A dominant victory, and plenty of momentum to carry onto the next one.
