Match Report | Peterborough Sports 0-0 Oxford City
A point to end 2025.
Peterborough Sports 0
Oxford City 0
Oxford City ended 2025 with a point on the road as the Hoops were left frustrated with a 0-0 draw at Peterborough Sports.
Josh Parker was twice denied by superb saves by Goalkeeper Peter Crook in the first-half which was the closest City had to finding the net.
In the end, a poor game ended goalless, with the Hoops picking up a valuable point nonetheless.
In honesty, the 200+ crowd inside Pimms Park could’ve gone home at half-time.
City were the dominant team in the first 45’ after a sluggish start to the contest but once they grew into the game, the were left frustrated by Peter Crook’s impressive display in between the sticks.
Josh Parker was denied twice by the Sports shot-stopper who firstly did well to palm the striker’s effort wide of the post, before getting down well to tip a second effort wide moments later.
Jamie Pardington’s only real job was to claim a number of crosses before Sports almost snatched an undeserved lead. Jacob Roddy’s outstretched leg denies Connor Woods’ effort just before the half-time whistle.
Half-time: Peterborough Sports 0-0 Oxford City
After the break chances were few and far between. City relentlessly pressed their counterparts but kept a tight shape as the game turned into a cagey affair.
Neither side really laid a glove on the other. Perhaps the best chance fell to the host’s when a cross was hooked off the line before Sports could scramble home.
City were left frustrated by a lack of chances and cutting edge in the final third, but as the old phrase goes, if you can’t win the game… don’t lose it.
In honesty, the Hoops never looked like they would lose the contest, but perhaps the point (albeit fair) will frustrate City more than Sports.
Nevertheless, it’s a clean sheet and a point on the road that adds to the tally and City have to press on for the next.
