Walking Football has arrived at Oxford City FC. See more...

Oxford City are proud to welcome our very own walking football to the club.

Walking Football pretty much does what it says on the tin but, there is a whole different side to the game which you might not know about.

The purpose of the game is about creating a community for those who cannot play football at the highest level or haven't played at any level.

Our new team have formally joined Oxford City and changed the name to reflect this, after previously being called Oxford Rovers.

Andy Sinnott, Chairman of Oxford City FC said: "It's not about ability and winning things, it's about building up relationships and enjoying playing football.

"It's quite tactical, there are shapes and the quality is still there. It's not about pace, it's about touch and finding a pass so it's great to see and I'm delighted to bring it to Oxford City."

Walking football has so many more benefits than you might think, it allows players to socialise and of course there is a health benefit with the game.

Peter Lamont, Manager of our Walking football First Team said: "The idea here is to get people involved from a community health aspect, get people developed in looking after themselves but also allow older players to scratch that competitive itch.

"There is a beast in football, a competitive player and we want to cater to everyone. Whether you're an experienced player or haven't played at all."
