Match Preview | Radcliffe v Oxford City

City search for first win on the road.

Oxford City get back on the road as they travel to Radcliffe's Neuven Stadium in search of their first away win of the Enterprise National League North season.

City are picking apart the defeat against South Shields, which was their first home defeat of 2026. It followed the pattern of the whole season, where the scoreline wasn't reflective of the performance.

Radcliffe, however, have stopped a winless run and picked up a big three points on the road away to Chester.

It's a big game for both sides, City are looking to build a gap to the relegation zone at the bottom of the table, while Radcliffe are searching to solidify their place in the playoff positions.

Radcliffe ran away winners when they visited The MGroup Stadium earlier in the year. But last season, City won at The Neuven Stadium, despite going a goal down in the opening stages.

Oxford City Manager Ross Jenkins said: "It was a tough result to take on Saturday. I felt like we had more than enough to get a result from the game, but we need to brush it off and go again because the games are coming thick and fast, and points are precious right now."

FORM

RADCLIFFE - W L L L W

Radcliffe's form has stuttered throughout the season. They've lost the most games of anyone inside the top 10 places, despite sitting in 6th.

The weekend's win away from home against Chester will give the club a big confidence boost going into this midweek fixture.

It arrested a run of three consecutive defeats against Scarborough, Buxton and Marine.

OXFORD CITY - D W L W L

Over the last five games, The Hoops have managed to accumulate more points than The Boro. City have managed to keep two clean sheets and netted on three of the last five times of asking.

A defeat to South Shields on the weekend put an end to the perfect home record of 2026. City are one of two sides yet to win a game away from home.

They've only been able to muster five draws on the road this season, hopefully today is the day...

ONE TO WATCH - Rio Clegg

City fans will be familiar with the attacking prowess of this Radcliffe side. Clegg himself bagged a hat-trick against The Hoops as The Boro ran away 5-1 winners.

Clegg arrived from Trafford FC, where he was the Northern Premier League West Division’s top scorer with 20 goals in 39 games, including a remarkable run of 14 goals in 10 matches. Prior to that he enjoyed spells with Elton Vale, Prestwich Heys, Stalybridge Celtic and Hyde United, showing his ability to adapt and score at various levels of the non-league scene.

Clegg has 19 goals so far this season, six behind top scorer Ricardo Rees, who has now moved onto Forest Green. The golden boot race is wide open and Clegg has every chance of claiming it himself.

THE MANAGER - Anthony Johnson & Bernard Morley

At the end of the 2023/24, Radcliffe appointed both Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley to replace Bobby Grant.

The pair have enjoyed success across a variety of clubs. They began their managerial careers at Ramsbottom United in 2009 achieving back-to-back promotions taking them into the Northern Premier League.

From there they moved to Salford City, where they made their name featuring on the Class of ’92 documentary. They were at Salford for three and a half years when they moved to Spennymoor Town.

Johnson appeared on screens once again after going viral for drinking a pint of Madri during a post-game interview for Radcliffe at the beginning of last season.
