The Casuals are very important to Oxford City football Club. The Casuals play a major role to promote inclusive football in our local community for children and adults with disabilities.
After careful consideration I feel now is the right time to step aside and let someone else lead the Casuals at the regular training and tournaments. With the support of the General Manager I will be taking up a new role with the working title of Casuals Strategy Manager. I will focussing the time I have at the club to strengthen our financial sustainability and establish key partnerships with local organisations.
Since 2014 I am proud to have secured investment, improved our regular communications and strengthened our links with partners. This has included working with the club to review the Casuals finances and set about making them sustainable for the future.
Reflecting on my time managing the Casuals there are many highlights including social trips to Wembley and seeing our players be their best on the pitch at tournaments and training. Winning the award for best programme for people with disabilities from the National League Trust for 2016/17 was a personal highlight for me.
I have been liaising with General Manager Justin Merritt since December 2017 on handover arrangements. My last session with the Casuals will be Sunday 25 March, a BOBi League tournament at Oxford City. Laura Hextall has agreed to be interim manager until a permanent successor is appointed.
The search for a permanent Manager is underway and a further update will follow in due course from the club. I am committed to supporting both Laura and the new manager as part of handover arrangements for the remainder of this season.
I would like to thank all the volunteers who have supported me, the club, our partners, and of the course our players. I have thoroughly enjoyed my six years with the Casuals and I look forward to my next chapter at the club.
