Sunday 27th January

All smiles this week as Oxford City Ladies put 3 points between Southampton FC at the top of the table, with last week’s win over Newbury.

On 8-1 win over Newbury

Waheed Ramzan was proud over the win and told us: “It was a really good win with a really strong second half performance. It was nice to see the players getting back into the groove of things and playing as they should be within the ideas we project in training. There was some fantastic performances and as a team we did the job thoroughly and well.

In credit to the girls, they have not had it easy this season. We haven’t had a goalkeeper since the 14th of October, so a huge thank you to Maisie who has been doing a fantastic job for us in goal over the last couple of months. I can understand how frustrating this must be for her but we really appreciate her support.

We also have some really influential players missing from the squad through injury. We miss them on the training ground as much as on match days as they bring a sharpness and good attitude to the side. So, again, fair play to the girls who have still managed to gel, play good football and produce the results and form expected of them despite so many disruptions and setbacks - I couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and hope they remain focused and driven into what will be a huge February for us.”

On This Weekend

Waheed is not expecting an easy ride this Sunday: “we travel to Barton Rovers who had a difficult result last weekend and I’m sure they will want to put this right. The team just need to continue the momentum we are building and keep working hard on things in training. I am sure they will maintain their focus and do another professional and thorough job this weekend."

Fans will have to wait until February for the Ladies’ side return to Court Place Farm.
