Sunday 17th March

Oxford City Ladies FC are yet to be beaten in 4 games as they enter the final stretch of the season. Sitting 3 points behind league leaders with one game in hand, this Sunday could define the title chances for both teams.

After seeing Winchester City Flyers off 5-2 last Sunday, the team go into the game with every confidence of getting a result. Player, Leah McConnell, took us through the hard fought win: “The Winchester game started off very well and we felt in control. We then gave away a lot of possession leading to their 2 goals. Our mentality and energy picked up in the second half and we created more chances as a result. There were some fantastic play from individuals and our character as a team came through, giving us a very nice win and 5 goals!”

Welcome Back

Last Sunday’s win was extra special for McConnell as it marked her return from a long-term injury. Leah told us “It was fantastic to be back and get a full game under my belt and play with my team again. Very pleased to get on the scoresheet and be involved in a very exciting game. Just need to build my fitness and keep improving my touch. Overall, I am very excited for the games ahead and I am very happy to be playing with my teammates. It’s something I have missed so much.”

On This Weekend

The Hoops travel to Bournemouth to take on joint league leaders. AFC Bournemouth are tied on points with Southampton at the top of the table. A win for City would put them top with a game in hand over both teams.

Oxford City Ladies FC return to Court Place Farm on the 31st March, welcoming Warsash Wasps.
