Central defender arrives at The MGroup.

Oxford City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Central Defender Chris Francis. 

Chris signs with the Hoops after leaving Premier League side Crystal Palace in the summer, a spell which also saw him head out on loan to Dagenham & Redbridge last season in The National League. 

After signing with City, Chris said: “I feel good. It’s a good opportunity for me to get some games, especially at this stage of the season, and I’m really looking forward to it.

“I’ve been training hard. I’m fit, I’m ready and I think this is the right time to come here.”

Francis started his career with Swindon Town before he joined local side North Leigh under Eddie Odhiambo (who now heads up our Velocity Football College Programme). 

From there, the defender impressed from the get-go, and soon caught the eye of Premier League sides before AFC Bournemouth won his signature.

He spent time on loan with National League South side Weymouth in 2022/23 during his spell with The Cherries before he secured a move to Crystal Palace in August 2023. 

He was a mainstay in the U21 side at Selhurst Park during his stay at Selhurst Park, spending a spell on loan at Dagenham & Redbridge last season.

Now, he links up with Ross Jenkins’ squad for the 2025/26 season and bolsters the squad’s defensive ranks.
