Oxford City Sign Evan Humphries On Loan From West Bromwich Albion
Defender joins from Baggies.
Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of Evan Humphries on loan from Championship side West Bromwich Albion.
The versatile left-sided defender joins Ross Jenkins’ side from the Hawthorns and bolsters the squad as we progress into the business end of the season.
Upon joining, Humphries said: “I’m buzzing to be here.
“After hearing about the opportunity to come here, I was all over it. Now, I’m here and I’m ready to go.
“The welcome’s been great. It’s all been friendly, and speaking to the lads they’ve made me feel really welcome.”
Humphries has been at ‘The Albion’ since the age of nine. Joining after impressing for local side Bishop’s Cleeve, the left-back has continued to work his way through the ranks at The Hawthorns.
After being awarded a scholarship with the Baggies, Evan has gone from strength to strength in the club’s PL2 squad, nailing down regular starting place in the defence.
After some unfortunate injuries, he battled back to full fitness and captained the Baggies’ PL2 side and picked up Albion’s ‘Scholar of the Year’ Award in 2023/24. Shortly afterwards, before he was awarded his first professional deal with West Brom.
More PL2 experience has followed, with Humphries captaining the West Brom U21 side this season. Now, he’ll spend the first loan spell of his career at The MGroup Stadium.
We’d like to thank West Bromwich Albion for their help in facilitating the loan.
Welcome to Oxford City, Evan!
