Oxford City Sign Jonny Maxted On Loan From Brackley Town
Jonny jets in on loan.
Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of Jonny Maxted on loan from Enterprise National League side Brackley Town.
Maxted joins with a wealth of EFL experience, which includes two promotions. One of which was the Enterprise National League North title with Brackley last season.
The 32-year-old joins the Hoops’ Goalkeeping department and signs in time for this afternoon’s clash away at Macclesfield.
Manager Ross Jenkins said: “Jonny comes in with lots of experience and knowledge which will only benefit the group.
“He knows the league well and gained promotion last season so those experiences will be great for our younger players in the team.
“We’re delighted to have him onboard.”
Maxted started his career at Doncaster Rovers, before playing for Hartlepool United and Forest Green Rovers.
He switched to then National League side Guiseley where he was credited with helping The Lions reach the second round of the FA Cup for the first time in their history after they beat Accrington Stanley 4-3 on penalties.
His performance must’ve caught the eye of the Acrrington Stanley management, as he signed for Stanley for an undisclosed fee in January 2018, making his debut against Notts County andkeeping a clean sheet in a 1–0 home win.
He then joined Exeter City in 2019 and he was nominated for January 2020 EFL League Two player of the month after keeping four consecutive clean sheets in the league.
On 29 June 2020 he played for Exeter City in the behind closed doors League Two play-off final. After 26 appearances for the Grecians between 2019 and 2021, he made the switch to Northampton Town, where he was part of the Cobbler's League Two winning squad.
Jonny moved from Northampton Town to Newport County in July 2023 and made his debut for Newport in the starting line-up for the EFL Cup 1–1 draw against Brentford, which Brentford won on penalties.
Last season, he joined Brackley Town after leaving the Welsh club and helped the Northamptonshire side to the Enterprise National League North title by keeping 22 clean sheets in 50 appearances.
Welcome to Oxford City, Jonny.
