City take the points on Easter Sunday

An Emily Harris goal gave Oxford City Women a 1-0 win over Winchester City Flyers this afternoon at the MGroup Stadium
Winger Harris scored half way through the second half to give Aliyah Anthony a winning start as City Manager.
In an even first 20 minutes there were long-range efforts from Harris, Yasmin Edwards and Ellie White for City and a couple of nice moves from Winchester that didn’t cause home keeper Hannah Gerrow too many problems
City then grew into the game and were dominant for the rest of the opening period without truly causing visiting keeper Eleanor Parker too many problems.
It was a different story after the break though. First a superb turn from the excellent Harris forced a good save as City increased the intensity and pressure
That pressure then paid off after 66 minutes when Player of the Match Harris gave them the three points. Cutting in from the left the fleet-footed forward raced clear on to a ball in behind the floundering Flyers and kept her composure to take the ball round Parker before rolling the ball into the empty net to give City a deserved 1-0 lead.
Winchester came back strong and put one or two half chances wide of the mark but White struck the post and City had plenty of opportunities to make the game safe despite the rising tension.
A fine result for the new boss. Upwards and onwards.
