Oxford City U18s visited Kidderminster Lions U17 for their opening MJPL game of the season. Pre warned it was going to be a tough start the hosts did not disappoint and against the run of play City took the lead, and were soon 0-2 in 10 minutes through Connor Barrett which was flattering to say the least. Over the next 30 minutes Kidderminster worked their way back in the game due to their own determination and some parts of the City game which need to be improved. The first half finishing 2-2.
The second half improved for City with a small change in formation and a constructive team talk at halftime. City took a more dominant role and should of taken the lead but were unable to find the net. A poachers goal from Dan Digges put City back in front only for City to gift the home side an equaliser minutes later. City continued on the front foot and Kyle scored what was to be the winner with an unstoppable ferocious drive from 30 yards, sorry! he shanked a cross which flew in over the keepers head. Overall City probably deserved the win, but the result was made harder due to a competitive home side never giving up and City themselves.
Overall a reasonably good performance as an "opener" with full squad participation in achieving the result, which was good. Thank you to everyone who attended, players, parents etc.
