The MGroup Town returns.

Oxford City Football Club is delighted to announce that the annual Town v Gown fixture will return on Thursday 13th October 2025, when Oxford City take on The University of Oxford at The MGroup Stadium.

The much-anticipated event celebrates the long-standing relationship between the city and the university, bringing together students, locals, and supporters for an evening of competitive football and community spirit.

Last year’s clash saw an excellent turnout and two entertaining matches from both sides, and this year’s encounter promises to be just as exciting.

Once again, this season’s installment of one of Oxford’s most treasured sporting events will see both clubs’ Women’s & Men’s first teams go head to head.

Speaking about the announcement, Oxford City Owner Justin Merritt said:

“Town v Gown is always a special occasion that brings our community together. Last year’s event was a real success, and we’re excited to do it again.

“The game is a celebration of Oxford itself and we’re delighted to keep one of the city’s sporting traditions going strong.

“We look forward to welcoming the whole community to our club for what’s sure to be another fantastic evening.”

Alex Betts, Pro-Vice Chancellor at The University of Oxford added: “We’re delighted that Oxford City are willing to host this year’s Town V Gown once again.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring the university and the community together in a celebration of sport and football.

“We can’t wait for a fantastic set of matches on the women’s and the men’s side.”
