Abi Whistler Joins Oxford City FC

June 25, 2026

First summer signing for City Women.

Oxford City Women are delighted to announce attacking midfielder Abi Whistler has agreed to join the club ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Last season, Whistler was a key member of the Bournemouth Sports side that remained in the National League southern Division (Tier 4).

A versatile player, Abi played in every position available, apart from goalkeeper. But her strengths lie in the middle of the park and her unwavering engine will be a big strength for The Hoops.

A former student at Loughborough University, Abi got her first taste of high level competitive football at Loughborough Lightning, before playing one season for Long Eaton.

She then joined Exeter City Reserves before being picked up by Bournemouth Sports. This experience is something that will count for so much in the upcoming season.

Abi told us: "I'm really excited to get going. I can't wait for the season to start and just be back playing football.

"The ambition, the way the club wants to go and what they want to achieve is something that I want to be a part of.

"My aim is completely to drive forward and get promoted and I'm looking forward to getting started."

Women's First Team Manager, Aliyah Anthony said: "It's great to welcome new players into the squad and it's really exciting times at the club.

"Abi has loads of experience to offer the group. She is such a talented player and I can't wait for the season to start and see her in full flow."

Welcome to The MGroup Stadium, Abi!
