Josh Ashby sweeps up Yearly Awards
Captain Fantastic wins major awards, again.
Jack Stanley
Brian Cox Club Person of the Year
Brian Cox, known as Mr. Oxford City for everything he did around his beloved club, sadly passed away three years ago. This award was made to commemorate Brian and is awarded to the person who embodies Brian’s selflessness and dedication to the football club.
Jack is a huge part of the Oxford City match day and in our community. Every week he goes above and beyond to give all of our mascots. And guests the very best experience at the club and goes the extra mile to make their day extra special.
We’re extremely proud to have Jack as part of our team and he’s a worthy recipient of this year’s award.
O’Shea Ellis
Young Player of the Season
Goal of the Season sponsored by Lawbox.
O’Shea Ellis joined midway through the season on loan from Birmingham City. The youngster has impressed so much that he was awarded Young Player of the Season. The award is only eligible for players under the age of 23 but the 20-year-old has been a standout for City alongside Ashby in the middle of the park. It’s certainly a name to remember for the future.
Ellis also won the Goal Of the Season. It was a tight competition as there were five crackers to chose from. In the end, Ellis’ curled effort from outside the box against Kidderminster just pipped Ewan Clark’s screamer against Alfreton Town. Ellis was delighted with the award. He said: “I’m delighted with this.”
Josh Ashby
Robert Holt Players’ Player of the Season
Supporters’ Player of the Season
Staff Player of the Season
The one all the players want to win. Being recognised in this fashion by your peers is an incredible achievement but winning it two years in a row just shows the quality that Josh Ashby has. The skipper has been nothing short of remarkable for The Hoops this season. He has 6 goals in the league to his name and an FA Cup goal against Westbury as well. It is thoroughly deserved. Well done, Josh!
Ashby was also voted for by the supporters and the management staff.
