Midfield maestro extends his stay with Hoops.

Oxford City are delighted to announce that Midfielder Josh Ashby has signed a new deal to with the club ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Ashby has been a stalwart of the City midfield and his impressive performances throughout the previous season earned him a thoroughly deserved double scoop at the end of season awards, as he picked up the Robert Holt Players' Player of the Year award and Staff Members' Player of the Season.

Over the past seven seasons, the midfielder has surpassed the 300-appearance mark with the Hoops and chipped in with his fair share of (42) goals.

Ashby also captained the side on multiple occasions throughout last season, and he has been named as our new club captain after the departure of Reece Fleet.

After signing his new deal, Ashby said: "I'm delighted to sign and I'm looking forward to putting the wrongs of last season right.

"It's an honour to captain the side. Fleety (Reece Fleet) has done a fantastic job over the last few seasons and I've learned a lot from him. I had bit of a taste of it last season so I'm excited and can't wait.

"I've been here years now and it does feel like home. I love the people around the club and we have a good group of local players.

"It's a different challenge next year, again in the North which is a tough league, but I'm excited to sign and get cracking on with it."

Manager Ross Jenkins added: "Josh has been an integral part of the squad over the past few years, and we're delighted that that'll continue.

"We're also delighted to name him as our captain this season, and it's a testament to his character and the work he's put in for the team since signing here.

"Of course, as the cliché goes, you want eleven captains on the pitch, but he'll lead by example and will really add to what we're building this year."

Welcome back, Josh!
