Oxford City turned in their most complete performance of the fledgling season to beat Chorley 4-0 at the MGroup Stadium this afternoon and go top of the National League North table..

Tyrone Marsh and Scott Pollock continued their scoring sprees, Marsh with two, loanee Briar Bateman was on the scoresheet again and in truth the scoreline didn't quite reflect the performance as the Hoops ran rings around The Magpies.

The game started brightly with the visitors have a couple of half chances,  before City hit their stride and dominated the rest of the game..

Marsh forced a loose ball home after 17 minutes only to see it ruled out for offside. Ludwig Francillette nodded a corner over after 20 one-sided minutes and both Ellis Brown and Josh Ashby drew saves out of the flying Stowell in the Chorley goal.

Brown had the beating of his full back, Tetek and Ashby had an iron grip in midfield and Pollock’s late runs into the box were causing chaos.

A goal was inevitable and on 32 minutes Marsh was on the mark once again.

It was slightly fortunate in the build up when a Deago Nelson cross was touched on to the bar as it threatened to dip under the bar, but Marsh is always alert and was ideally placed to thump the rebound home for his fifth goal of the season.

Brown lobbed another effort just wide and the only question was whether City would pay for not turning their supremacy into more goals. Lively forward Steven Bala looked like thr Magpies' most likely way back into the game, clippong the outside of the post after 40 minutes, but two minutes later City netted for the second time to just about kill the game off before it was half way through.

It came on the break with Marsh sending Brown away down the left. Pollock charged alongside in the middle and when the cross came his way he powered it into the top corner to make it 2-0 with a superb team goal.

If Chorley were to stage a comeback then they needed a fast start after the break, but instead they found themselves 3-0 down inside three minutes. Bateman is a dangerous player and was drifting into clever positions and after 48 minutes let fly from 15 yards to score his second goal on loan from Birmingham City.

Any way back for the away side? Chorley not, Bala did finally test Maxted with a 62^nd minute drive but otherwise the keeper was free to enjoy the glorious autumnal sunshine. He will face more difficult tests later in the season but here his clean sheet never came under serious threat.

After 67 minutes Marsh slid in to convert from two yards out after brilliant work from the ever-excellent Ashby. Game over.

Still a very long way to go but the table is starting to gain meaning with every passing game. City are right where they need to be, playing terrific football, scoring goals and keeping clean sheets.
