Centre-half bolsters the Hoops' ranks.

Oxford City FC are delighted to announce the signing of Centre-half Brooklyn Kabongolo on a contract that runs until the end of the season.

The young defender links up with the Hoops after leaving fellow Vanarama National League side Southend United earlier this month, and he is eligible to line-up against his former employers this afternoon.

The talented 6ft 6in central defender bolsters the Hoops’ backline after a number of injuries to the squad and will wear the number 23 shirt.

Speaking after signing with City, Kabongolo said:“It feels good to get the move completed, I look forward to helping the team out for the rest of the season.

“I like the style of play that the team play here and I think that suits me. I enjoy defending.

“I feel like getting the most games possible is what I need and this is a great opportunity to do that. I’ve enjoyed the training sessions I’ve been involved in and I’m looking forward to Saturday.

“I’m up for any battle and I feel I can help the team get out of the situation we’re in.

“It’s definitely possible and I think we have every chance of doing it.”

Kabongolo rose through the youth ranks with Championship side Ipswich Town before joining Isthmian League side Billericay Town in September of this season.

He impressed quickly at the New Lodge and was released by the Essex club so he could sign at Southend.

He went on to make thirteen appearances at Roots Hall, and was also used as a makeshift striker in some matches.
