Goalkeeper arrives on loan from Wigan Athletic.

Oxford City FC are delighted to announce the signing of highly-rated Goalkeeper Tom Watson on-loan from Sky Bet League One side Wigan Athletic.

The 20-year-old Goalkeeper has been with the Latics since the age of seven, and now joins City on a rolling loan deal.

He will wear the number 26 shirt.

The 6ft 2in shot-stopper is eligible for selection for City’s Vanarama National League clash with Southend United this afternoon.

After signing on loan, Watson said; “I had a chat with the gaffer at Wigan and he talked about getting on loan and getting senior experience.

“I can’t wait to get going, when I heard about the move I couldn’t turn it down. The opportunity to get games in at this level will be massive for me!

“I’ve had some chats with the gaffer (Ross Jenkins) and I’ve been speaking to him about the games, and how I’ll fit in and tactics.

“I like to play out and that’s something that’s been ingrained in me since coming through at Wigan.

“I like to play with the ball at my feet but I’m also confident in my shot stopping ability as well.”

Watson is a product of the pre-academy at Wigan and signed for the club at just nine-years-old.

From then on, he’s gone to strength-to-strength at the DW Stadium and was a key component in the Wigan Under-18 side that won Professional Development League title.

He joined NPL North West side Mossley on loan last season, and again impressed with the Manchester-based side.

Now, he links up with the Hoops in the National League.

Welcome to Oxford City, Tom!
