Evan Humphries Signs On For Oxford City FC
Evan Humphries makes City move permanent.
Oxford City are delighted to confirm that defender Evan Humphries has agreed to join Oxford City upon the expiration of his deal with West Bromwich Albion.
The Left-Back had a highly successful spell with the Hoops whilst on loan in the 2025/26 season and will now make the move permanently.
The 20-year-old becomes the third summer signing for our Men’s First Team following the additions of Tyrone Marsh and Jonny Maxted.

Upon signing, Evan said: “I’m absolutely delighted. I can’t wait to get started again.
“I had a few phone calls (with other clubs) but ultimately, I was just waiting for Ross to give me the call and it was pretty much an immediate yes. It was a no brainer.”
Ross Jenkins added: “We’re pleased to sign Evan permanently after a positive loan with us last season.
“Evan is a player who works extremely hard and has a brilliant attitude to learn & develop. We’ve seen him grow game-by-game using his physicality and speed to deny attacker's joy.
“I’m excited to work with Evan again.”
Humphries had been in West Bromwich’s youth system since the age of nine.
He joined after impressing for his local side Bishop’s Cleeve and he continued to work his way through the ranks at The Hawthorns.
After being awarded a scholarship with the Baggies, Evan went from strength to strength in the club’s PL2 squad, nailing down regular starting place in the defence.
After some unfortunate injuries, he battled back to full fitness and captained the Baggies’ PL2 side and picked up Albion’s ‘Scholar of the Year’ Award in 2023/24. Shortly afterwards, he was awarded his first professional deal with West Brom.
More PL2 experience has followed, with Humphries captaining the West Brom U21 side last season, before he made the switch to The MGroup Stadium with Oxford City.
Humphries made his debut in the 1-0 victory over eventual Enterprise National League North champions AFC Fylde, before going on to play a key role in the Hoops’ superb run which secured NLN safety.
Welcome (back) to Oxford City, Evan!
