Jonny Maxted returns to Oxford City
Goalkeeper becomes City's second summer signing.
Oxford City are delighted to announce the signing of goalkeeper Jonny Maxted, City's second recruit ahead of the 2026/27 season.
Jonny had an impressive loan spell at The MGroup Stadium last season and told us:
"I really enjoyed it last season. The Gaffer was great with me and as soon as he said there was a chance of a permanent move this summer, I knew this is where I wanted to play. The core of the squad is very strong and that was shown at the end of last season. Hopefully I can play a part in the club getting to where it wants to be."
Manager Ross Jenkins said: "Jonny has been part of a side that won promotion from this division and he brings so much experience to the group as well as being a tremendous character who fits in so well with the winning profile of players we want here."
Maxted started his career at Doncaster Rovers, before playing for Hartlepool United and Forest Green Rovers. He switched to then National League side Guiseley where he caught the eye of Accrington Stanley n 2018. He then joined Exeter City in 2019 playing for The Grecians at Wembley in the behind closed doors League Two play-off final.
After 26 appearances for Northampton Town, where he was part of The Cobblers' League Two winning squad, Maxted enjoyed a spell at Newport County and then Brackley Town where he kept 22 clean sheets in 50 appearances during their promotion season.
The 32-year-old joins fellow new arrival Tyrone Marsh in joining the club this summer, with captain Josh Ashby and talismanic midfielder Zac McEachran also committing their future to The Hoops.
