Oxford City we’re knocked out of the Emirates FA Cup in the Second Qualifying Round after Westbury United came from two-goals down to win 3-2.

Josh Ashby and Josh Parker had given City the lead before Westbury world their way back into the tie with a thunderbolt by Dan Restorick.

The host’s levelled in the second-half through Ethan Cannings before they snatched a late winner in the fifth minute of stoppage time through Ali Sen.

City took the lead from a corner straight from the training ground. Ewan Clark’s fizzed effort found the edge of the box, Tom Scott dummied the pass and Josh Ashby supplied the finishing touch.

It was two-nil ten minutes before the interval, a neat passing move ended with Tom Scott’s shot being spilled into the path of Josh Parker who tapped home a second.

However, the game turned on the verge of half-time when Dan Restorick’s thunderbolt found the top corner of the net to bring Westbury back into the contest.

Deservedly so too. However, the a rejuvenated City side never emerged from the tunnel and Westbury levelled on 73’.

Substitute Ethan Cannings levelled from the edge of the box, after his shot bounced into the corner of the net. Jubilation in the Westbury stands.

That goal seemed to wake the Hoops up, but despite that, a goal never seemed like it was going to come. Nevertheless, as City committed men forward to try and nick the win, it was the host’s who did just that.

In the fifth minute of five added, Westbury’s Goalkeeper Joel Manning smashed the ball upfield. The Hoops defence couldn’t deal with the ball and when it dropped to substitute Ali Sen, he hammered home a late winner.

Delirium in the Westbury stands, but a thoroughly disappointing afternoon for Oxford City. We’ll want to forget this quickly and we’ll go again on the road at Scarborough Athletic.

We wish our hosts all the best in the next round.
