Development team to play in the sixth tier next season.

Oxford City Football Club are delighted to announce that our Women's Development team have been promoted, after an application was accepted to join the Southern Region Women's Football League Division 1 North.

The team had previously played in the Thames Valley Counties League, but now will play just a single division below our Women's First Team in the Southern Regional system.

The promotion is a testament to the work that has gone into developing players, with numerous members of the squad stepping up to the first team this season.

The team also finished the season with silverware after winning the Thames Valley Counties Football League Cup.

Many of our Development Team players also train and play in our Velocity Football Academy programme, making the potential player pathway clearer than ever.

Head of Female Football Aliyah Anthony said: "We're delighted with the news.

"The work that's gone on behind the scenes to get to this level can't be understated.

"A huge amount of credit has to go to our Development team Manager, Dec O'Hanlon, who has been at the forefront of all the positivity to come from the team this season.

"It's another step in the right direction for the female game in Oxfordshire, and now we can offer players an even better platform to develop.

"Next season, the standard our girls will be competing in will be much higher, and that can only benefit our club."

Congratulations, girls.
